    Sales Coaching and the 4th

    by Will Kloefkorn / July 3, 2013

It’s my hope that if you are a sales leader reading this week’s blog post that you are doing so from a beautiful dock by a lake – you deserve it you know. As we head into the 4th of July I figure it is only appropriate to keep this post short, sweet, and very anecdotal. Mostly because I know many of you have already checked out for the weekend, but I too am heading out of the office to enjoy some relaxation having just closed the books on yet another successful year at the EcSell Institute.

A few days back I came across a quote from John Russell, Managing Director at Harley-Davidson that caught my eye. He said, “I never cease to be amazed at the power of the coaching process to draw out the skills or talent that was previously hidden within an individual, and which invariably finds a way to solve a problem previously thought unsolvable.”

This was a timely quote because it never ceases to amaze me the amount of work that our members are able to accomplish in one year’s time. Many times at the beginning of new objectives or initiatives it is easy to look at the task ahead of us and wonder how we are ever going to accomplish such a feat, but with great sales coaching and great resolve we are always able to make big things happen.

On Thursday, just like every other 4th of July, I will marvel at how much progress has been made over the years in our Country. I will wonder how we ever won our independence in the first place against such insurmountable odds. And I will wonder about what other amazing things are in store for all of us in the future. I am thankful for those early Patriots who looked a problem that many likely thought was unsolvable at the time and decided to tackle it – we are forever in their debt. As sales coaches, we deserve it to those on our team to draw out every ounce of skill and talent that might be hidden within every individual producer. If we can do that we can be sure that our teams will always win, regardless of the odds that may be stacked against them.
