Sales conferences sound like the most boring events on the planet. There, I said it for you. But quite honestly, EcSell’s Sales Coaching Summit is far from boring. How Sales Leaders Can "Shift Their Brilliance"

Posted by Will Kloefkorn

April 29, 2016

Earlier this month Simon T. Bailey, the former sales director for the Disney Institute and founder of Brilliance Institute, captivated the EcSell Institute summit attendees with an inspiring message; every one of us is Brilliant! Simon spoke with an authenticity that cannot be mimicked and he also showed a healthy amount of humility about his career path, personal evolution as well as business successes and failures.

An epiphany that Simon had along his path, one that I assume can resonate with most everyone reading this blog, is that a job is what you are paid to do, but releasing your brilliance is what you are made to do. When you can align your passion and talent with what you get paid to do, that is when you have the opportunity to change the world. In today’s sales climate, more than ever before, it is incumbent on the sales leader and the sales producer to work together to find where the sales reps' brilliance can be found.

If you are not familiar with Amar Sheth and Sales for Life, it is time to get acquainted. At the recent EcSell Institute Sales Coaching Summit, the EcSell community had the pleasure of hearing Amar evangelize the value and relevance of Social Selling. The audience was engaged, mostly in taking notes, because they learned that only 28% of B2B sellers are using social selling. What an amazing opportunity for them to gain market share, build pipeline, and gain a huge competitive advantage right now.

Summit Speaker Recap: Rochelle Carrington and the Power of Positive Self-Talk

Posted by Sarah Wirth

May 11, 2015

The average person has between 50,000 and 80,000 thoughts a day, and an alarming 80% of them are negative, according to Rochelle Carrington who spoke at last week’s EcSell Institute sales coaching summit. Rochelle spent over two decades in sales and sales management, and now works in training other sales professionals how to become more effective. During her career, she continually saw the impact that both negative and positive self-talk can have on the performance of a sales team.

According to Rochelle, about 90% of our happiness is predicted by how we process the world, while only 10% is predicted by our surroundings. Simply stated, how we think and talk to ourselves has a huge impact on how effective we are. And while we all have natural tendencies in terms of the positivity of our thoughts, we also have the ability to exert more control over them.   Rochelle shared with our summit attendees six steps to dramatically increasing our positive self-talk and, in turn, our performance.

Sales motivation: Millennials expect coaching

Posted by Will Kloefkorn

March 5, 2015

I was born in 1982 which technically makes me part of the Millennial generation. And when it comes to sales motivation there might not be a more polarizing subject than how to effectively coach Millennials. I mean how do you get through to an entire group of people who are lazy, self-centered, and entitled? Although, I do not believe these characteristics to be at all representative of my generation, they are words that get thrown around by some senior executives and a few grumpy boomers on a routine basis. It is hard to not get into arguments when talking about different age groups and all generations seem to speak with a false sense of bravado when talking about other generations short comings. However the fact is that by the year 2025 Millennials will make up 75% of the global workforce. What does this mean for sales VP’s and front-line sales managers? It means that Millennials are going to make up the majority of your sales teams and you will need to learn how to coach them.
